Martin Smith is currently a Senior Portfolio Manager and Senior Partner at PENN Capital, a Philadelphia based investment management firm with over 4 billion under management. PENN Capital is known for its expertise in investing across the complete capital structure of US small cap companies. Since joining PENN in 1999, Mr. Smith has researched and managed investments in a variety of industries and investment products. Most recently Mr. Smith has devoted much of his time to managing PENN’s Opportunistic High Yield strategy and serving as a member of the investment committee. Mr. Smith began his investment career in small cap equity research with Cantone Research, Inc., an independent equity research firm. Prior to joining Penn Capital, Mr. Smith served as a high yield analyst with Merrill Lynch Asset Management. Mr. Smith received his BBA from Pace University and MBA from Rutgers University.
